Healthy Dialogues has developed a two‑day programme to help NHS staff deepen their behaviour change skills and gain the capability to deliver Very Brief Intervention (VBI) training. The course covers advanced behaviour change theory, practical communication and training design skills and strategies for embedding approaches across services.

Healthy Dialogues has developed a two‑day course for NHS staff who want to extend their behaviour change skills and build the capability to deliver Very Brief Intervention (VBI) training to others.
 
Across the two days, the programme will cover:
 
Day 1: Behaviour Change Skills
  • Behaviour change theory, including the Transtheoretical Model (Stages of Change) and COM‑B
  • Exploring ambivalence and motivation for change
  • Collaborative goal setting and action planning
  • Problem‑solving barriers to behaviour change
  • Adapting conversations to individual context, culture and readiness
  • Opportunities to practise conversations in a safe learning environment
  • Further information on validated signposting routes
Day 2: Embedding Practice & Developing Trainers
  • Designing and setting up both in‑person and online training sessions
  • Strategies for embedding behaviour change approaches across services
  • Adapting training for different audiences, roles and learning styles
  • Delivering short training presentations and facilitated activities
  • Managing group dynamics and providing constructive, supportive feedback
